みずほ銀行は2002年の第一勧業銀行、富士銀行、日本興業のM&Aによる合併で生まれました。
3つの銀行で独自に運用していたシステムを統合する際に失敗をしています。
みずほ銀行は、開業当日からシステム障害によってATMの障害発生や口座振替の遅延、二重引き落としや未処理などが相次いで発生しました。
この失敗の原因は、M&Aをする3つの銀行の歩み寄りがなかったのが原因と後になって考察されています。
システム統合の方向性がいつまでも決まらないまま期日が近づき、無理のある３社のホスト接続につながりました。
プレPMIの時点で歩み寄りをしてシステム統合の骨子を作り上げることが重要だとわかります。
